Recently I sat down to watch the remarkable and poignant documentary, Amy, which was released earlier this year and produced by the same creators of the stunning and critically acclaimed documentary, Senna in 2010. For those of you who are yet to see it, the feature is essentially two solid hours of having your heart repeatedly torn to shreds. The filmmakers reveal intimate moments of candid footage that build your infatuation with Amy Winehouse and her extraordinary talent so much so that by the time her death rolls around it hits you like a goddam steam-train. Amy Winehouse was a deeply funny individual; she was loveable, vulnerable and ultimately consumed by the extents of a fame that she never wanted. And that voice, oh my God, that voice.
